Episode XVIII: A New Hope
This seems like the zillionth post about my cafe seat.
But, last night I checked it out, and I do have new hope. First, after removing my tail light, there is ample clearance between the cafe seat and the wheel when the suspension is bottomed out:
I also found that I still have plenty of clearance if I mount my tail light and license plate to the back of the seat. Here it is (dangling by the wires) -- check out the clearance!
And I don't think that looks too goofy.
I'm not quite ready to give up. I might even start working on fabricating a pad soon.

Andy. Is there any way to still have the taillight below the seat but mounted further back. Like the second to last picture in your previous post but moved back about two inches. I wonder if it might look cleaner than having the taillight coming out the back of the seat?
yeah, i gotta say that if you can pull it off it'd be better to have the taillight below. The clean lines of the butt stop look pretty rad and it sure would be a shame to cover them up. There's always the route that i took which was to mount the taillight recessed into the butt stop. But I was able to wrap the upholstery to cover up the hole. see it here: LINK
